AHIMA on Information Management and Governance
December 8, 2015, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CST
Lydia Washington, Senior Director, Information Governance, American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), and Sharon Slivochka, Director HIM HER, and William H. Morris, MD, FACP, Associate Chief Information Officer, Information Technology Division, Cleveland Clinic. Lydia, Sharon and Dr. Morris discuss the emergence of Information Governance (IG) as a key strategy for organizations that seek to leverage information as an organizational asset while minimizing the risks associated with managing information in silos. They also discuss AHIMA’s Information Governance principles for health care and the organizational competencies necessary for success. They do this in the light of examining real world initiatives in a progressive healthcare organization that is adopting IG to address its information challenges and derive increased value and benefits from an integrated and strategic approach to managing its information.
