Are We Making a Difference? Measuring Impact of Clinical Decision Support at Memorial Hermann

October 20, 2010, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CDT

Robert Murphy, MD, Chief Medical Informatics Officer, and Sirajuddin Anwar, M.B.B.S, M.S, CPHIMS, Clinical Informaticist for CDS, Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. Clinical decision support has consistently been shown in published literature to be an effective intervention to improve quality and patient safety. Creating a CDS program is becoming a key strategy for many organizations, especially as they pursue achieving “Meaningful Use” criteria for CMS incentive payments. But many quickly discover it is often challenging to measure tangible CDS benefits. In this teleconference, Drs. Robert Murphy and Siraj Anwar share their experiences with clinical decision support at Memorial Hermann as they attempted to answer the question – “Are we making a difference in quality and patient safety?”.
