November 13, 2007, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CST
Event Navigation
Regina Berman, Executive Director, Performance Improvement, and Gerard Burns, MD, CMIO, Hackensack University Medical Center. We are just starting to learn how embracing Public Reporting may impact a healthcare system’s “health”- as we move from proving process measure compliance, to true outcomes measures (mortality, morbidity, safety), to “value measurements” (LOS, CPC, Readmission Rate). Will good results change the flow of patients to our organizations? Certainly, the advent and apparent success of P4P is changing the landscape. And now even more changes are coming our way- with the start of “present on admission” (POA) status and its associated documentation and coding requirement changes. Who knows what impact that is going to have? Don’t we all need to embrace this, for when (just in case) “consumer-drive” healthcare becomes a reality?
