P4P: The California Experience

Tom Williams, Vice President, Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA), presents an update on the statewide California pay for performance initiative. This program includes participation of six major health plans, 200 physician organizations and covers a population of almost 7 million commercial HMO members. Results from the first measurement year (2003) are discussed and overall program results to date. Data collection, measurement development and other important aspects of the program are also reviewed.
