Kochmann and Schaffer discuss the Regenstrief “SMART on FHIR” pilots underway to standardize the process of integrating HIE data into different EMRs so that HIE data can be integrated into a physician’s workflow to improve patient care. This is a “Part II” teleconference that builds upon the earlier work developed by Dr. Jason Schaffer from IU Health and Keith Kelley from IHIE, and describes the standardization required to integrate HIE data into varying EMRs, including Cerner and Epic.
