Tools for Monitoring Progress Toward IOM Recommended Nursing Practices

Carol Ann Cavouras and ChrysMarie Suby, Principals, Labor Management Institute, offer a follow up to their March 1 presentation: “IOM Implications for Nursing”. They discuss how to assess your operational structure and work processes to achieve a safer patient and staff environment for the delivery of care. The focus is on workforce assessment tools driven by the evidence – based recommendations published recently by the Institute of Medicine in their report titled “Keeping Patients Safe: Transforming the Work Environment of Nurses”. These tools for monitoring against the previously discussed recommendations are reviewed and made available to attendees.
