SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Leveraging Technology to Drive Both Nurse and Patient Satisfaction
DESCRIPTION:Sherri Hess\, MS-IS\, Vice President Chief Nursing Informatics Officer; and Whitney Staub-Juergens\, DNP-HSL\, MSN\, RN\, CCRN-K\, NE-BC\, Vice President of Clinical Operations\, HCA Healthcare. The innovative use of technology has the power to improve both patient and nurse satisfaction. HCA has embraced this opportunity by piloting a virtual nurse program\, encouraging the use of mobile technology\, and using AI-based nurse scheduling systems. Through the virtual nurse program\, bedside nurses receive supplemental assistance in completing indirect care tasks\, such as completing admission history and discharge teaching. Mobile technology facilitates real-time access to patient information directly at the point of care\, improving nurse efficiency with the review and documentation of care tasks. AI-based scheduling systems enable HCA to create flexible staffing models that balance the necessary mix of skills with nurses’ scheduling preferences. The resultant impact has been an improvement in time to discharge\, a decrease in nurse staff turnover\, greater nursing career flexibility\, and improved patient satisfaction stemming from enhanced patient-nurse interactions and communications. \nSponsored by Meditech
