SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Creating a Comprehensive COVID Center at Northwestern Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Igor Koralnik\, MD\, Chief of Neuro-infectious Disease and Global Neurology\, Marc Sala\, MD\, Assistant Professor of Medicine\, and Tom Moran\, MD\, VP & Chief Medical Information Executive\, Northwestern Medicine.  From the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic\, clinicians at Northwestern Medicine recognized that many COVID-related symptoms\, such as “brain fog\,” fatigue\, chest discomfort\, and respiratory impairment tended to be prolonged or to reoccur even after a mild acute illness that did not require hospitalization.  This would become more widely recognized as “Long Haul COVID.”  Starting in May\, 2020\, Dr. Koralnik opened a Neuro-COVID-19 clinic at NM to treat Long COVID patients with neurologic symptoms. In September 2020\, Drs. Koralnik and Charles Davidson\, as well as colleagues created the NM Comprehensive COVID-19 Center (CCC) and developed a referral program where these patients could be seen and treated in relevant specialty clinics across the enterprise.  Dr. Sala joined this effort to further the pulmonology clinical efforts and additional research objectives.  As of 3/28/2022\, the NM Comprehensive COVID Center has seen over 1800 individual patients including 1243 in the Neuro-COVID-19 clinic. With the help of NM IT department\, they have developed an app that allows the patients with Neurologic symptoms to track their own progress towards recovery against their initial pre-COVID baseline and monitor their COVID-related Neurologic symptoms. This informal conversation\, moderated by Dr. Moran\, discusses how this center was formed\, how this has become an ongoing sustained effort and led to research studies on Long COVID\, and the patterns they are seeing in patient recovery.

Crisis tend to accelerate macro trends especially for contact centers. The implementation of remote working\, digital service services\, ML\, AI and messenger bots have been accelerated with COVID 19.  Consumers are still expecting an emotionally and psychologically satisfying experience ready answers to their specific/complex questions\, and empathy for their circumstances. These expectations exist regardless of the channel of communication throughout the health system.  EXL Health experts share industry insight on how leveraging digital technology and omni-channel communications can deliver long term improvements to patient well-being and consumer satisfaction and lower the cost of care.

SUMMARY:WEBINAR | Using Microlearning to Promote Knowledge Retention
DESCRIPTION:Evan C. Howell\, MA\, Instructional Designer\, UNC Health. This presentation highlights a program developed to promote knowledge retention after new hire training via quizzes automatically emailed to trainees upon course completion. This research-backed practice of “spaced retrieval” helps students to cement the training concepts in their minds by moving knowledge from short-term to long-term memory.
