DESCRIPTION:Arash Dabestani\, PharmD\, MHA\, FASHP\, FABC\, Dean and Professor\, Long Island University College of Pharmacy; and Rick Green\, MBA\, MSM\, Vice President of Marketing\, Omnicell. The last few decades have seen remarkable advancements in healthcare technology\, automation\, and electronic record management\, which has fundamentally altered the role of the pharmacist and pharmacy technician. More mundane tasks are performed by machines\, allowing pharmacists to focus more on patient care. Long Island University College of Pharmacy is committed to preparing the next generation of pharmacy leaders with the education and skills necessary to capitalize on opportunities arising from embracing technology and further advancing clinical pharmacy services. In support of this commitment\, the College recently opened the Center for Innovative Medication Management. Arash shares the purpose of the Center as well as the aims for training the next generation of pharmacists to embrace technology to eliminate preventable harm from medications\, optimize medication-related outcomes\, and advance clinical pharmacy services.
