SI Patient/Consumer Engagement Adoption Model™

Patient engagement is a critical element in moving to a patient-centered, value-based model of care and wellness that incorporates accountable care, population health and analytics. Until now, however, health systems have had little or no clarity, consistency or guidance in measuring their success and progress in engaging patients in their own health and wellness, let alone making them equal members of the care team.

Scottsdale Institute developed the SI Patient/Consumer Engagement Adoption Model™ as a tool for SI member organizations and other health systems to:

  1. Identify the current level of patient engagement
  2. Determine the steps required to advance to the next level of patient engagement
  3. Measure progress towards the next level

SI Patient/Consumer Engagement Assessment©

What is it?
A brief, easy-to-take assessment that inventories the patient and consumer engagement services, processes and technologies your health system offers today. The SI Patient/Consumer Engagement Assessment© is closely integrated with the SI Patient/Consumer Engagement Adoption Model™ above.

Who should participate?
Any U.S. hospital, clinic or health system. Scottsdale Institute membership is not required, and there is no cost to participate, receive your score or get the final report.

Can several people from the same organization take the assessment?
That's encouraged, and each participant will receive results. Respondents may report for different sites, regions or departments and require specific scores.

I took it before, should I take it again?
We encourage you to do so. Patient/consumer engagement is advancing rapidly in the industry and your organization has likely evolved in its engagement with patients - across all avenues of care - and the market's healthcare consumers in general. Version 2.0 of the SI PCE Assessment© and Adoption Model™ was designed to reflect your and the industry's changes and measure your progress over time.

How do I participate?
Click here to start the assessment.

What are the benefits of participation?
Following submission of your assessment answers you will receive a score that reflects where your organization is in the SI Patient/Consumer Engagement Adoption Model™. You can compare yourself to peers in the industry when you receive a longer summary report on the survey's aggregate findings.

When will I receive a score and the summary report?
You will receive your score within 30 days of participation. The summary report will be finalized and shared at a later date after the aggregate data is collected and analyzed.

How can I compare my score with peers?
The final report will reflect the aggregate scores for several peer groups so you can compare your ranking with those in the same general category:

Can this be anonymous?
No. You must identify yourself, your title and organization for SI to share the findings with you. However, we do not share your identity.

Will the final summary report name the participants?
No. The final report will aggregate and analyze data anonymously. We will only identify leading-practice organizations to highlight in the report that have previously granted SI explicit permission to do so.
