Genemarie McGee, MS, BSN, RN, NEA-BC, is the Corporate Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Sentara Healthcare. Sentara Healthcare is an integrated healthcare system headquartered in Norfolk, VA. The system includes 12 acute care hospitals, home health and hospice, three medical groups, and Optima, the company’s insurance arm. She has held several positions in the organization, including Vice President and Nurse Executive for Sentara Leigh Hospital, Director of Sentara Norfolk General’s Emergency Department /Level I Trauma Center, Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and the Ambulatory Care Clinics.
Genemarie earned her Master of Science degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore (UMAB). Her education track was in critical care/trauma with an emphasis in administration. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University. Genemarie worked in various hospitals in Baltimore, including Johns Hopkins Hospital, Franklin Square Hospital, and Sinai Hospital, before moving to Virginia. Genemarie currently serves on the Tidewater Emergency Medical Services Board, The Virginia Organization of Nurse Executives and Leaders Board, and the Sentara College of Health Sciences Board.
