Ida Sim, MD, PhD

Ida Sim, MD, PhD is a professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, where she co-directs Informatics and Research Innovation at UCSF’s Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, and is Director of Digital Health for the Division of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Sim’s research focuses on open integrated architectures of mobile technologies for clinical research and primary care. She is a global leader in the policy and technology of large-scale sharing of clinical trials and mobile health data. In 2011, she co-founded Open mHealth, a non-profit organization that is breaking down barriers to mobile health app and data integration through an open software architecture. In 2017, she co-founded Vivli, a global data sharing platform for finding, requesting, and analyzing participant-level clinical trials data. Her digital health projects include integrating patient-reported outcomes into primary care, management of hypertension and depression in primary care, N-of-1 studies on wellbeing and chronic pain management, analytic platforms for real-time mobile data provenance and analysis, and cloud infrastructure for patient-generated data.

Dr. Sim has served on multiple advisory committees on health information infrastructure for clinical care and research, including committees of the National Research Council and National Academy of Medicine. She is a recipient of the United States Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), a Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics, and a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Dr. Sim is a practicing primary care physician.

                  Erin Henkel

                  Erin Henkel is a Senior Director of Health at IDEO. She’s responsible for supporting businesses to create new value in the world while taking a human-centered approach to solving their toughest challenges. Erin has spent more than 14 years at IDEO with a passion for designing positive health and wellbeing outcomes, reimagining pediatrics with TCPA, infant HIV diagnostics with the Gates Foundation, the future of social behavior change with WW, and how people with diabetes are supported with Ascensia.

                  As a design researcher, Erin has been published for her work in establishing how empathy can drive organizations forward, and across chronic disease, particularly diabetes. She has written about technology’s potential for disruptive positive impact on the nature of patient and clinical experiences, and new approaches to designing products and services that reflect the changing nature of work. She led a catalytic partnership with a leading neuroscience institution and drove a pilot aimed at improving the mental and emotional wellbeing of teams.

                      Quinn Burrell

                      Quinn Burrell is the Multimedia Specialist for the Center for Interdisciplinary Inquiry and Innovation in Sexual and Reproductive Health (Ci3) at the University of Chicago Medicine, where she creates artwork and animation for various games, apps, grant proposals, and outreach efforts. She received her undergraduate degree in evolutionary anthropology from the University of Michigan, and a graduate degree in scientific illustration from California State University, Monterey Bay.                           Emeka C. Anyanwu, MD

                          Dr. Anyanwu is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine and a member of the Consultative Cardiology Section within the Division of Cardiology. Dr. Anyanwu also serves as a Clinical Innovation Manager within the Penn Medicine Center for Healthcare Innovation.

                          Dr. Anyanwu spends his clinical time caring for general cardiology patients in clinic as well as on inpatient wards at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Anyanwu also has a strong interest in the potential for clinical informatics and digital technologies to improve the efficiency of patient care, clinical communication, and medical research and education. To this end he combines his medical expertise with his software development experience to design, evaluate, and scale digital solutions to common pain points for patients and clinicians.

                          Dr. Anyanwu received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency and a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Chicago Medical Center. During his cardiology fellowship training Dr. Anyanwu also earned a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Chicago.

                              Craig Kartchner is AVP of Marketing and Customer Experience at HonorHealth in Scottsdale, Arizona.
