Brennan Lehman

Brennan has been with Mosaic for 12 years, and has worked from the front lines of Information Technology , to now being the Chief Information Officer with a diverse portfolio of organizational responsibility, including, Information Technology, ePMO, Human Resources, Strategic/Business Planning, and Strategic Marketing. Prior to Mosaic, Brennan spent time with Cerner implementing electronic medical records across the country.

Brennan received an MBA from Northwest Missouri State, is PMP (project management professional) certified, and CHCIO (certified healthcare chief information officer) certified.

Brennan is a process focused leader with a key tenant, not forcing process to accommodate technology, but developing the most efficient process and then adopting technology to support the process. With the ever changing technology environment, constant diligence to appropriate staffing is top of Brennan’s mind, and he has built a world class support team focused on EDW, Mobile, Clinical Support, and Virtualized Infrastructure.

Some top accomplishments for this past year include establishing an organizational alignment methodology to show line of sight from organization goals to individual. Established central PMO office and have created transparency across the organization to true ‘total cost of project’ which has helped in prioritizing and calendarizing. Brennan also received Becker’s top 100 community hospital CIO’s to know award.

          Alistair Erskine, Chief Digital Health Officer, Partners Healthcare System, Inc.

          Alistair Erskine, MD

          Dr. Erskine is the Chief Digital Health Officer at Partners Healthcare which includes Brigham Woman’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals, teaching hospitals for Harvard Medical School.  He is responsible for sequencing innovative technologies, harmonizing data across the clinical care, research and health plan enterprise, and activating patients in a manner congruent with emerging patient consumerism.  Dr. Erskine heads Partners’ e-Care Division with over 400 application and clinical staff which engages patients, clinicians and researchers in the design and configuration of Partner’s clinical information systems and evolves Partners facilities to take advantage of ultramodern technologies.  He also leads Partners digital health strategy including patient-facing application, patient relationship management, telehealth services, secondary use of data and appropriate application of artificial intelligence.  He has a teaching appointment at Harvard Medical School to incorporate clinical informatics into the medical student curriculum.

          Prior to Partners, Dr. Erskine was Geisinger Health System’s Chief Informatics Officer where he oversaw Geisinger’s Unified Data Architecture, a hedged data management environment powered by Hadoop/Big Data and traditional relational database systems to ensure that data collected as a by-product of clinical, and research investigation are accessible for new discovery and appropriate secondary use.  In previous roles, he was appointed Associate Dean of Medical Informatics at Virginia Commonwealth University and was a member of the Board for the 650-physician Medical College of Physician practice plan.  He was appointed to the Virginia Governor’s Health Information Technology Commission by Executive Order and was a voting member of the Health Information Technology Standards Committee.  Dr. Erskine spent two years in Doha, Qatar in the Middle East as Chief of Health Informatics at Sidra Medical and Research Center and implemented a model commercial EHR from the ground up, without legacy systems or technologies.  He presents and publishes on the topic of clinical transformation in peer-reviewed literature and serves on Boards of several companies.

          Dr. Erskine trained at Brown University and Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and is triple Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Clinical Informatics and Pediatrics.  He completed a two-year degree program at MIT Sloan School of Management, with a specialization in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. He has been practicing hospital medicine for 15 years.

              Edward Rafalski, SVP, Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer, BayCare Health System

              Edward M. Rafalski, PhD, MPH, FACHE

              Edward Rafalski is currently the Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer for BayCare Health System in Clearwater, FL.  In this role he is responsible for developing and executing strategic planning, reframing pressing strategic and marketing issues and creating a common vocabulary for discussing strategy, marketing and communications issues across BayCare, including service excellence and the patient experience. Prior to BayCare, he was Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning & Marketing for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Memphis TN and the Vice President of Marketing for Alexian Brothers Hospital Network, Arlington Heights, IL.  Dr. Rafalski has an extensive background in strategic planning, data analytics, decision support, GIS, business development, marketing, public relations, group purchasing and managed care contracting.

              After graduating from the University of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in public policy studies, Dr. Rafalski received a master’s degree in public health from Yale University School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. in public health sciences from the Division of Health Policy and Administration at the University of Illinois, School of Public Health where he has taught as Adjunct and Clinical Assistant Professor.  His health services research and teaching interests include: the effects of market economics on health care services, healthcare decision support, quantitative methods, health disparities, marketing, managerial epidemiology and strategic management. Dr. Rafalski is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Six Sigma Black Belt and member of the 2014 TNCPE Board of Examiners, trained in the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence.

                  Alan Weiss, VP & CMIO, BayCare Health System

                  Alan Weiss, MD

                  Dr. Alan M. Weiss joined the BayCare Health System as their CMIO in August, 2018. He primary responsibilities over all clinical systems, their associated governance as well as over providing executive leadership over data and analytics.

                  Prior to BayCare, Dr. Weiss spent 5 years in the Memorial Herman System in Houston, Texas, as their first Ambulatory CMIO. In that role, he had responsibilities over GE Centricity, Cerner and eClinic Works EHRs. Central to that role was EHR optimization efforts as well as the conversion of GE Centricity to Cerner.

                  Before Memorial Hermann, Dr. Weiss was the Assoc. Medical Director of Inpatient Systems at Cedar-Sinai in Los Angeles where he helped develop and implement their EHR, Epic.

                  A general internist by training, Dr. Weiss spent 10 years practicing at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He also reported directly to their CIO to assist on EHR implementation and optimization efforts, was the head of their business informatics group in primary care, head of main campus internal medicine operations and also was an internal medicine section head.  Furthermore, Dr. Weiss spent time teaching medical student and residents while providing both ambulatory and inpatient care.

                  Before medical school, Dr. Weiss worked for Eli Lilly as a clinical information analyst, helping to develop data entry systems for clinical trials as well as analyzing that data for FDA reporting and for medical journals.  Dr. Weiss earned a B.S. from the University of Michigan with a double major in computer science and philosophy. He also has both an M.B.A. and an M.D. from Case Western Reserve University. His M.B.A involves a double focus on health care management as well as the management of information systems.

                  Dr. Weiss is passionate about patient care and advocates for the proper use of data and analytics to refine EHR development towards the inclusion of evidence-based medicine.

                          Louise Shah

                          Louise Shah is the Executive Director, Digital Health Business Strategy for the eCare Division at Partners Healthcare, which includes Brigham Woman’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals, teaching hospitals for Harvard Medical School.  With over 25 years of experience in technology, product and program management, Louise Shah is a technical operations executive with an extensive background in strategic decision-making, process improvement, approaches for driving revenue growth, and managing through change in fast-paced, competitive environments.

                          With over half her career focused on the healthcare sector, Louise joined Partners Healthcare in 2015 as Director of the Enterprise Project Management Office (PMO) for Partners eCare – Partners HealthCare’s enterprise-wide initiative to implement the Epic electronic health record.  Louise was responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Program Management Office (PMO) team, managing all Partners eCare PMO resources during Epic implementations, and establishing & leading the Partners eCare Deployment operations. In her new role as Executive Director for Digital Health Business Strategy, Louise is focused on maximizing the digital transformation journey at Partners Healthcare.

                          Prior to joining Partners Healthcare in 2015, Louise has served in a variety of leadership roles – she was the Senior Vice President of Product Management for HealthEdge; Director of the Program Management Office (PMO) for Perot System’s Harvard Pilgrim Health Care account; Director of Professional Services for deNovis, Inc.; Vice President of Delivery Management for TimeØ/Perot Systems Corporation; Director of Best Practices for i-Cube/RazorFish; co-founder of The Partnering Group Software, Inc., a category management software company sold to Oracle Corporation.

                          Louise also brings an extensive background in education, having served as a Board Trustee for the Knightsbridge School Education Foundation and as Vice Chair of the Board of Governors for the Marlborough Primary School – both in London, United Kingdom.  She currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Board of Overseers for the Brookline High School Innovation Fund.

                              Ken Riley has over two decades of IT and system engineering experience in the military and healthcare.  Leading communication teams while on tour and holding leadership roles in large health systems has provided a fusion of experience resulting in a balanced, seasoned leader with focus and vision. Ken served as the CIO for Wing Memorial Hospital and was responsible for IT security, operations and strategy. He has received the BusinessWest 40 under forty distinction, manager of the year award and has graduated from the yearlong UMass strategic leader development program.  Currently as the Director of Patient and Population Health Technologies for Baystate Health, Ken is responsible for the regional Health Information Exchange (PVIX) and all patient-facing technologies to include mobile applications and the patient engagement platform.  His focus is the consumer and how technology coupled with a customer feedback loop can improve and inform the experience.

                              Currently Ken Riley is pursuing a Ph.D. in engineering management with a focus in population health.  He is leveraging his professional experience in healthcare to inform his research and prove that effective stratification of health populations will result in higher quality and lower cost patient care. He is a world traveler with local roots and a passion for personal health.

                              Ken lives in western Massachusetts and serves on the Country Bank board of trustees.  He is a volunteer for the YMCA and the Clarke School for hearing and speech.  He believes family is the key to his success and is a proud husband and father of three.

                                      David Oakley is the Vice President of Digital Health & Development at AdventHealth System.                                       David has presented on health care and development strategy topics at conferences such as HIMSS, Gilbane, athenahealth’s More Disruption Please, DrupalCon and the Scottsdale Institute.
