Rob DeMichiei

Former EVP & CFO, UPMC; Strategic Advisor, Health Catalyst

Rob is a Strategic Advisor for Health Catalyst and is the retired Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of UPMC, a $23B+ nonprofit health system and leading health care provider and insurer.  During his time at UPMC, Rob implemented best practices in controllership, with UPMC achieving voluntary SOX 404 certification in 2006.  He also led UPMC’s activity-based costing/service-line implementation and Consumerism initiatives.  In addition to Finance, Rob led the Supply Chain Management and Revenue Cycle functions, driving integration, technology infusion and process improvement/efficiency throughout the organization.  Before his 16-year tenure at UPMC, DeMichiei held various executive roles with the General Electric Company (GE) and Price Waterhouse in Pittsburgh.  Rob currently serves on the Board of Directors of Waystar, where he is the Audit Committee Chair. He also serves as the Board Chair of the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Investment Committee Chair of AAA East Central, and Finance Committee Chair of the Seton Hill University Board of Trustees.  Rob has a BA in Business Economics from the University of Pittsburgh.

                      Snehal, Senior Vice President Ancillary and Support Services, has over 15 years expertise delivering healthcare model transformations across the Government, Healthcare and Retail sectors. He brings innovation and leadership to influence and shape the future and growth of Rehabilitation, Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Sleep Lab services.

                      Prior to joining Wellstar Health System, Snehal served as President PBM Operations and Group Director Managed Care for Safeway/Albertsons where he developed strategic initiatives centered on pharmacy retail operations and supply chain.

                      Snehal’s experience also includes serving as the Commanding Officer for the 344th Combat Support Hospital in Fort Hamilton, NY, and as the Chief Pharmacy Officer for the combat hospital unit.

                      He holds a doctorate in pharmacy from St. John’s University and an MBA from Georgia Institute of Technology.

                      He currently serves on the Boards of Mercer University College of Pharmacy, Chattahoochee Technical College and Partners Coop, Inc. He has served as a Taskforce Member for the California Pharmacists Association and Georgia Pharmacists Association.

                          Scott Knoer, MS, PharmD, FASHP

                          Scott Knoer, MS, PharmD, FASHP, is the 13th Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Pharmacists Association. He received his BA in psychology from Creighton University in 1988 and his PharmD from the University of Nebraska in 1996. He completed a 2-year administrative residency with a concurrent MS degree in hospital pharmacy from the University of Kansas in 1998.

                          Before his current leadership role at APhA, Dr. Knoer was the Chief Pharmacy Officer at the Cleveland Clinic from 2011 to 2020, where he led an international pharmacy enterprise with a $1.4 billion dollar drug budget and 1,558 FTEs in 18 hospitals with facilities in Ohio, Florida, and Nevada; Toronto; London; and Abu Dhabi.

                          After graduation from pharmacy school, he was an Operations Manager at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston for 3 years. Moving to Minnesota, he was the Director of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview, for a decade before being recruited to the Cleveland Clinic in 2011.

                          Dr. Knoer has served the profession extensively through involvement in professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels. He is published widely on a variety of pharmacy and leadership topics. He is a frequent invited lecturer to state, national, and international audiences. He is often quoted as a health care expert on a broad array of topics in newspaper, radio, and television outlets.

                          Dr. Knoer is a passionate advocate for patients and the profession of pharmacy. He has successfully lobbied boards of pharmacy in Ohio and Minnesota to allow the advancement of pharmacy practice, and he has led initiatives that changed Ohio and federal law related to the elevation of pharmacy practice and reducing the impact of drug shortages.
