Can We Finally Balance the Scales Toward True Equity?
For all the advancements we’ve made in healthcare over the past century, in some regards we’ve not experienced the growth that’s so needed in terms of eliminating bias, promoting equity and ensuring healthcare access. Come join a select group of your SI Health Equity Affinity Group peers for Scottsdale Institute’s 2024 In-Person Summit, Balancing the Scales: Diversity, Data and Health Equity, hosted by Texas Health Resources and sponsored by Epic on June 17-18. Also enjoy a special site visit to Healing Hands Ministries Pediatric Health Center Vickery and accommodations at Embassy Suites by Hilton Dallas Love Field.
Overview
During our time together, we’ll discuss:
- Structural Racism and Health Disparities, learning how to drive clinical care equity and more accurate outcomes by addressing inherent racism
- Data-Driven Approaches to Addressing Social Determinants of Health, considering the importance of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging; lifting up our communities; caring for the caregiver; and much more
- Health Literacy and Health Equity, enhancing the patient experience, implementing routine health literacy assessments and considering innovative solutions for equity and access in rural America
- Ethical Considerations, Training and Education in AI and Health Equity, recognizing how GenAI is fraught with bias risk (because most data available for consumption is embedded in areas created within a structure of racism) and potential means to address and ameliorate such bias
