WEBINAR | Creating Successful Community-Hospital Partnerships: Recommendations & Tools for Action

Kate Burke Blackburn, MSW, Manager of Practice & Prevention, Nemours Children’s Health, and Meadow Didier, Director of Consulting, Client Services, Nonprofit Finance Fund. For over a decade, Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF) and Nemours Children’s Health have each been leading learning collaboratives and other initiatives to identify the elements of successful partnerships between hospitals and community organizations aimed at advancing health, eliminating health disparities, and addressing the social determinants of health. In this webinar, Kate and Meadow share characteristics that have been identified as essential to successful partnerships as well as characteristics that are detrimental. Based on these findings, they share recommendations for how to create and nurture effective partnerships and networks. Kate and Meadow present several action-oriented tools and guidance documents that hospital-community networks can use to put essential characteristics in place. Tools include tactics such as, but not limited to, altering partnership structures to increase leadership and decision-making seats for the community the partnership seeks to serve; incorporating equity impact assessments into network workflows; and establishing a shared vision, goals, and strategies to guide the partnership.
