Adam Wright, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Senior Scientist, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Clinical decision support (CDS) systems, when effectively designed and used, are powerful tools for improving the quality and safety of healthcare but can be complex to develop and maintain. Dr. Wright presents research, funded by the National Library of Medicine, on CDS malfunctions – cases where CDS doesn’t work as expected. The presentation will cover common causes of CDS malfunctions and strategies for prevention, including integrated knowledge management, monitoring and anomaly detection.
