MD Cost for EHRs: Research Report Findings

Lara Sibley, Director, CDW Healthcare, delivers the results of a nationwide, 200-office study on the full cost breakout of implementing an electronic health record (EHR) for a physician practice. The study found that, inclusive of equipment, software, services, training time and potential lost revenue, physician practices may face total EHR adoption costs of $120,000 per physician. With just 12 percent of EHR implementation costs coming from hardware and software, Lara shares insight on what providers are doing to reduce the non-technology costs and achieve a quicker financial return.
