Adventist Health System started its rapid deployment of CPOE starting in mid 2009 and leveraged Multum and Discern alerts to obtain “fully implemented” Leapfrog status six weeks after first CPOE go live. AHS discusses its journey to enhance medication safety through Multum and Discern Alerts and their journey to refine and reduce nuisance alerts. They also discuss strategy and efforts to reduce false positive alerts as well as their CPOE dashboards which are updated daily, and make a case for why you should have these alerts turned on in your CPOE environment.
