Questions to consider:

• How are you driving down the cost of care with informatics at your organization? Do you use any standard measures or analytics to do so, or is more done ad hoc? Or, are you focusing more on the logistics of VBC, identifying patients, avoiding leakage, etc., than on the cost of care?
• Have you instituted CDS to guide compliance to quality measures? If so, how well has it worked? Did you build it in-house or use a commercial product? Is it patient-specific enough to be helpful to the clinician (i.e., is the signal-to-noise ratio acceptable to users)?
• Has your organization looked at medication adherence as a component of driving better outcomes? If so, what have you done, and has it worked? If not, why do you think that it’s not been prioritized?
• Have you seen significant shifts in clinical practice as you transition to value-based care and, if so, would you share examples?

• What care team workflow processes may have to be re-engineered with new technologies to
  account for the clinical knowledge gaps of new trainees and staffing shortages as experienced
  staff retire?
• Are there other informatics project that you have underway that are focused on improving the
  patient experience (e.g., virtual nurse as a member of the care team pre/post procedure, e-
  prescribing medical devices, accessing pharmacogenomics information, etc.)?

• To lower frustration with alerts, do you have any initiatives to increase the signal-to-noise ratio for your CDS? How do you measure success?
• Have you explored more context-specific options for medication CDS?
• What has your organization done to reduce the med rec burden for clinicians?
